Theatre: What is it? Sport? Why do people do it? Theater or Theatre?
Many people have different definitions of Theatre. A definition I found was, "People in front of people doing stuff." I won't judge but that's not a true definition. My own definition is, "A group of people on stage, performing a play or musical in front of an audience."
A lot of people say that theatre is not a sport. Well yes, we do not run, catch footballs, or shoot goals. In theatre, we dance, sing, and act. Those three can really tire you out! I think theatre can be categorized in "sports." I have had come out of rehearsals exhausted, and the need of water, and when I played soccer, the same thing accrued. Here's another article if you need an other option! http://www.tcgcircle.org/2012/05/when-sports-and-theatre-mix/
People do theatre for many many reasons. From it being an escape, to beings a thing your parents make you do to get out of the house. Theatre helps you with your confidence, responsibilities, organization, ability to work under pressure, and the list can go on and on and on. http://lecatr.people.wm.edu/majorslearn.html I can say that since I started theatre, I have improved in so many different parts in my life.
In theatre there are two different ways to spell it. "Theatre" is the British way to spell it and that's how most "theatre people" spell it. In the american dictionary is is spelled, "theater." That is the "american" way to spell it. Most theatre people will correct you if you spell is theater. It is "re" not "er."http://grammarist.com/spelling/theater-theatre/
